Motorist Involved in Petaluma Crash that Knocked Car on its Side Arrested on Suspicion of DUI

Firefighters extracted a woman from the flipped vehicle.

A motorist who was involved in a collision in Petaluma Wednesday night that knocked another vehicle on its side was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, police said.

Giovanni Sbragia, 72 of Petaluma, was driving southbound on Petaluma Boulevard South towards I Street when he collided with a vehicle making a left turn from I street onto northbound Petaluma Boulevard South, Sgt. Ed Crosby said.

Petaluma firefighters arriving on the scene extracted the woman from the vehicle. The woman was taken to Petaluma Valley Hospital, where she was released after a medical evaluation determined she didn't suffer any injuries, Crosby said.

Sbragia was treated by medics at the scene for minor injuries, Crosby said. He was cited and released to a responsible party.
