Northbound 101 Driver Dies Near Marin-Sonoma County Line

Medical emergency, not accident may be cause of death

A 57-year-old Novato man died in a solo vehicle collision on U.S. Highway 101 in unincorporated Marin County late Monday night, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Shortly before 11:40 p.m., the CHP received a report of a solo vehicle collision on U.S. Highway 101, near Olompali State Historic Park.

According to the CHP, the vehicle was traveling north on a relatively straight stretch of highway before it veered and crashed about 100 feet off the roadway.

The cause of the collision and the cause of the driver's death remain under investigation, according to the CHP.

The identity of the deceased man is being withheld pending notification of his family members.
