NOT GUILTY! Jury in Efren Carrillo 'Peeking' Trial Returns Verdict

Efren Carrillo.

The jury in the trial of Sonoma County Supervisor Efren Carrillo today reached a not guilty verdict on an attempted peeking charge against him.

The jury earlier today told Sonoma County Superior Court Judge Gary Medvigy that it was unable to reach a unanimous verdict on the more serious peeking charge against Carrillo, the county's 5th District supervisor.

The judge told the jury to go back and deliberate on the lesser attempted peeking charge, and it returned this afternoon with the not guilty verdict.

Carrillo, 33, was accused of looking into the bedroom window and rear sliding glass door of his female neighbor's apartment in west Santa Rosa early on the morning of July 13.

The jury last Friday initially said it had reached a verdict on the peeking charge, then became deadlocked 11-1 after one juror changed their mind.

The peeking charge carried a maximum six-month sentence, while the maximum for the lesser attempted peeking charge was three months.

Maggie, Maggie, OJ got away with murder. Why? Maybe it's being able to afford a good Attorney, not a Public Defender with an overwhelming case load, that keeps public figures, actors and celebs out of jail. Perhaps "Affluence" is the disparity that plays out in the Courtroom? But in the bigger picture, the disproportionate amount of African Americans that are incarcerated, partially from well established "Profiling" police techniques that should worry society. And we all know Racism is alive and well with comments like those the owner of the LA Clippers said, (Joe Lacob). One thing with Mr. Carrillo; he had already been "tried" in the court of Public Opinion via the widespread media reports. Perhaps his willingness to go to trial was an indicator that he and his lawyer knew more than what we were lead to believe by media sensationalism ? I don't know. But if one juror stood up on "principle", with the ability to change the hearts and minds of the other 11 jurors......then something very powerful occurred in that jury room. Let's hope it was Justice, and not the message that it's OK for "men to prey on women". I have a daughter.....and that's not the kind of world she or any other woman should have to even think about dealing with.

Surprise, surprise . . . and give it some time and everyone will forget . . . except the woman who was terrorized (and her friends) . . .

Really Maggie? Please! Once again, reverse discrimination! How about, you weren't there. You didn't see the evidence. Get over it!

So some idiot drunk and wearing only his underwear tries to break into a neighbor's window, admits to the police that he looked through the window, gets charged with a lesser offense, and then the lame-o district attorney can't even get a conviction? Wow, I want to become a politician so I can't get away with outrageous stuff too!

The incompetent Prosecutors of Sonoma County, have once again failed to adequately represent our people. What else is new? They failed to charge this guy appropriately, and then they even failed to make the relatively minor charge stick. They are so useless. They should all be fired!
