Novato Man Arrested on DUI/Hit-And-Run Charges, Despite His Boss Allegedly Trying to Stop the Arrest

Jose Carbajal-Herrera, 24, and Roger Tschann were arrested Friday morning.

Despite the alleged drunk protests of his boss, a Novato man has been arrested on charges he drove drunk and hit another car Friday morning in Petaluma.

The crash was reported just after 5 a.m. Friday at D and 5th streets. Police say one of the cars involved fled the scene, and the occupants of the other car were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police learned the driver of the car was 24-year-old Novato resident Jose Carbajal-Herrera, according to a press release. They located him in nearby Putnam Plaza and arrested him on DUI, hit-and-run and driving without a license charges, the press release states.

"While officers were interviewing Carbajal-Herrera prior to his arrest, a subject who identified himself as the suspect’s boss attempted to interfere with the investigation and arrest," the Petaluma Police Department press release states. "Roger Tschann was arrested for public intoxication and resisting and interfering with an arrest."

Both men were booked in the Sonoma County Jail.
