Authorities looking for a champagne colored Chevy or Ford half-ton truck which may be missing a right mirror

Authorities are still searching for a truck that struck and injured a bicyclist in the Penngrove area of Sonoma County this morning.

The bicyclist was riding south on Petaluma Hill Road near East Railroad Avenue around 8:40 a.m. when he was struck from behind by a truck that drifted onto the right side of the road, California Highway Patrol Officer Kerri Post said.

The bicyclist, who is about 65 years old, suffered major injuries and is in the intensive care unit of Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital, Post said. The CHP is trying to locate the bicycle rider's next of kin because he suffered major injuries, according to Post.

The CHP broadcast a "be on the lookout alert" to law enforcement agencies in Sonoma and Solano counties for the truck, described as a champagne-colored Chevrolet or Ford half-ton pickup.

The truck's right side mirror might be missing and it might have right front damage and a possible broken right headlight, the CHP said. It was last seen on southbound Petaluma Hill Road.
