Petaluma Man Arrested for Slaying at a Bar Over the Weekend

Daniel Escobido Calderon is alleged to have shot and killed a 23-year-old man at a Santa Rosa bar early Saturday

A 23-year-old Petaluma man has been arrested in connection with a Saturday shooting at a Santa Rosa restaurant that left one person dead and another injured, according to the Santa Rosa Police Department.

Police were called to the El Puente Bar at 1709 Santa Rosa Ave. shortly before 2 a.m. on a report of a gunshot victim, according Sgt. Steve Fraga with the Santa Rosa Police Department. Upon arriving, officers found two victims lying in the parking lot in front of the bar, and were given the descriptions of two suspects, Fraga said.

A firearm was also found at the scene.

Petaluma resident Daniel Escobido Calderon was identified as one of the suspects and was arrested after returning to the area. A second suspect, who is 17, was also soon arrested and is being held at Juvenile Hall. Calderon has been charged as an accessory to murder and is being held at Santa Rosa Jail on $250,000 bail.
