Petaluma Man Arrested for Strong Arm Robbery

Two men were suspected of shoplifting at a Petaluma K Mart Sunday around 12:30 p.m.

A 19-year-old Petaluma man was arrested Sunday afternoon for strong arm robbery at on North McDowell Boulevard.

After being detained for shoplifting, Nicholas Martin fought with store security and ran to his car parked in the parking lot. Police stopped Martin in his vehicle, when he fled on foot, but was later detained by the officer.

Petaluma police recovered the stolen property, officials said in a news statement.

Martin was booked into Sonoma County Jail and is being held on $40,000 bail.

Police are still searching for a second man who was with Martin, who police described as a white male adult, heavy set, in his 20s, with blue jean shorts and no shirt. Anyone with any information is asked to call officer Gerke of the Petaluma Police department at 778-4372.
