Petaluma Man Arrested on Suspicion of Vandalizing Police Vehicle

Police said man pushed his shopping cart into a police vehicle multiple times.

A Petaluma man was arrested Saturday after police said he pushed a shopping cart into a police vehicle multiple times.

Howard Myers, 63, was booked into Sonoma County Jail on charges of vandalism and resisting arrest after the incident, which took place just before 8:30 a.m. at the intersection of Kentucky and Washington streets in Petaluma.

According to police, a Petaluma Police Department parking enforcement officer was on Kentucky Street and stopped for a red light at Washington Street when Myers allegedly pushed his shopping cart into the parking enforcement officer’s vehicle.

Police said Myers kept pushing his cart into the vehicle, damaging it, until a citizen yelled at Myers to stop.

Myers walked away from the area, but was detained and arrested by officers responding to the scene, police said.
