Petaluma PD Arrest Repeat DUI Offender After Stakeout
Offender was on probation when spotted at local bar.
A repeat DUI offender from Petaluma was arrested Monday after a police stakeout at a local bar.
Steven Roetter of Petaluma, 40, is a two time DUI offender and on active DUI probation with terms that include not to drink and drive, not to possess or use alcohol, and to stay out of places where alcoholic beverages are the primary items of sale, including bars and liquor stores, according to the Petaluma Police Department.
On Monday, around 4:45 p.m. officers from the Habitual DUI Offender Stakeout Program spotted Roetter’s vehicle parked at a bar in Petaluma. After about 15 minutes, Roetter exited the bar and drove away. After driving a short distance, he was stopped by officers and was arrested with a blood alcohol level of .11%.

Roetter’s license was valid, but his vehicle was impounded for 15 days due to his prior DUI’s. He was later booked at Sonoma County Jail with bail set at $45,000. Roetter is being charged with DUI with two priors and violation of DUI probation.
