Petaluma Police Arrest 8 Drivers for License Violations

Two checkpoints conducted Friday evening


Eight motorists were arrested Friday night for driver's license violations at two Petaluma Police Department checkpoints.

Police ran the checkpoints, which also screened for DUIs, on Friday between 6p.m. and 2 a.m. Saturday morning.

Checkpoints were placed at southbound Sonoma Mountain Parkway at Wellington Place and at southbound Petaluma Blvd South at Crystal Lane.

Four drivers were cited for driving without a license and another two for having a suspended license at the Sonoma Mountain Parkway/ Wellington Place checkpoint. Two cars were also impounded.

Two more drivers were cited at the second checkpoint, one for driving without a license and the other for having a suspended license.

There were no DUI arrests made at the two checkpoints. Funding for this program has been provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS), through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
