Petaluma Teen Missing in Lake Tahoe

Disappeared while on a trip to the South Shore with friends over New Year's Eve

 

The search is on for a Petaluma teen who disappeared while attending a music festival in South Lake Tahoe over New Year's Eve.

Alyssa Byrne, 19, was attending the Snow Globe Festival in the area and staying at Horizon Hotel with friends. For an unknown reason, Byrne was separated from her friends and returned to the hotel alone, where she was seen by other guests.

But she appears to have left again and has not been heard from since.

Petaluma police confirmed that Byrne was missing, but said Douglas County Sheriff's Department in Nevada was handling the investigation. A call to the agency Thursday morning was not immediately returned.

Byrne is a longtime Petaluma resident and graduated from Casa Grande in 2011. Anyone with information about her whereabouts is asked to contact the Douglas County Sheriff's Department at 775-782-5126 or Petaluma Police Department at 707-778-4372.
