Girl attacks officer as he tries to interrupt fight; man swallows bag of meth after stopped by police

Two 16-year-old girls were arrested and a 14-year-old girl cited and told to appear in court after they were caught fighting in the parking lot of a restaurant shortly after midnight Saturday while a group of about 20 people watched.

When a police officer tried to break up the fight, which occurred outside the Fairgrounds, one of the girls approached the officer from behind and grabbed him. Other officers arrived on the scene and the three were taken into custody. Police say the fight appeared to have started over a disagreement.

In a separate incident, a Petaluma man was arrested Saturday after police spotted him driving dangerously in the 1000 block of Petaluma Boulevard North. When he was stopped, the suspect, later identified as 42-year-old Richard Cook, appeared under the influence and resisted officers, prompting them to use a Taser on him.
