Highlights from the Petaluma Police Department crime log

Julio Gallardo, 21, was arrested on charges of driving under the influence after being stopped Monday at Adobe Road and East Washington Street, according to Petaluma Police.

A car was reported stolen from Post Street (off Western Avenue) on Monday night. This brings the total of stolen cars this year to 40, according to the PPD.

A patient at the Windsor Care Center on Hayes Lane reported on Saturday that someone had charged more than $1,000 worth of items at Buckle, a designer jeans store in Santa Rosa.

Steven Brodie, 36, of Petaluma, was arrested on charges of theft of motor vehicle parts on East Washington Street on Saturday.

Two 10-year-old girls riding their bicycles in Petaluma near Lakeville Highway and Casa Grande Road last Friday when a strange man approached them, according to Petaluma Police.

The incident occurred shortly before 11 a.m. near St. Francis Drive and St. Joseph Way. The suspect attempted to talk to them and one of the girls noticed that his pants were unbuttoned and pulled open. The man was not touching his groin, police said.

The girls were startled and rode away, and told police about the incident. The suspect is described a driving a rust-colored vehicle, possibly a Volvo. Officers responded to the area but were unable to locate any vehicles matching the description.

A 33-year-old Petaluma resident was arrested Friday after police set up a perimeter at a home in the 2400 block of Magnolia Avenue. Joel Silva who is on parole and had a warrant out for his arrest was found hiding behind a fence.

Police dog K-9 Tango assisted officers in the arrest. Silva was wanted for an outstanding Marin County warrant and violation of parole from Sonoma County. Silva was transported to County Jail.

A car was reported stolen last Wednesday, Aug. 3, on 8th Street.
