Police Chase Results in Crash on 101

Suspects robbed woman in San Rafael, then eluded police on cross-county chase

Two men trying to elude police crashed in a Petaluma field Wednesday afternoon after being chased from China Camp, after robbing a woman, according to the Marin County Sheriff's Office.

The suspects, identified as Jerry Campbell, 33 of Alameda and Sherman Dunn, 39, of Oakland, allegedly stole a woman's backpack while she out for a walk Wednesday around 1:45pm. When two Public Works employees attempted to stop the van by blocking the road with their truck, the suspects rammed into them and fled.

The suspects traveled north on Highway 101 and exited Petaluma Boulevard South, where they struck a deputy's car, before getting back on the freeway, according to CHP. With deputies still behind them, the suspects lost control of their white Ford van just north of Washington Street, causing the vehicle to overturn several times.
