Police Seeking Hit-And-Run Driver

Police say the driver abandoned the car and fled before officers arrived. According to police, the suspect may live in the area of the collision.

By Bay City News Service—

Petaluma police are looking for the male driver who collided with three parked vehicles early Monday morning.

A resident in the 1100 block of Santa Barbara Way told police a vehicle struck another vehicle in front of a residence around 1:45 a.m. and two people in the suspect's car left the collision scene, Lt. Tim Lyons said.

Officers determined three parked vehicles were struck, and the driver fled the vehicle before police responded. The address on the abandoned vehicle's registration was a vacant house, and police believe the Hispanic male driver lives in the area of the collision, Lyons said.

The vehicle that was abandoned at the scene is a gold Dodge Stratus with a California license plate number 6KYB559, Lyons said.

There were 159 hit-and-run collisions in Petaluma that caused 18 injuries in 2013, Lyons said. Hit-and-run collisions have increased each year since there were 117 in 2010, Lyons said.

Anyone with information about the latest incident is asked to call police at (707) 778-4372.
