Rash of Car Break-ins Reported on East Side

Police urging car owners to lock doors and remove all valuables

Petaluma police are reporting numerous car burglaries on the Eastside that occurred over the past several days.

A person out for walk Sunday morning reported seeing several cars that had been burglarized and with the doors still open in the 700 block of Garfield Drive, said Lt. Tim Lyons. Other car break-ins were also reported in the 2100 block of St. Augustine Circle, 1000 block of Wren Drive, and 2000 block of Appaloosa.

Items taken included wallets, cell phones, checkbooks and spare change and most of the cars had been unlocked, police said.  

Separately, police also reported two car break-ins on the Westside over the weekend, in the 700 block and 800 block of North Webster where GPS devices were stolen from the vehicle.

Police are reminding residents to not leave any valuables in their vehicle, to lock their car doors and to report any late night suspicious activity to the police department.
