Roadway Fire Causes 101 Gridlock Tuesday Morning

Truck carrying slurry seal catches fire

A work truck towing a trailer with slurry sealant caught fire Tuesday morning on northbound Highway 101, causing major delays, but no injuries. The fire occurred near Rohnert Park Expressway, just before 9am and consumed the trailer and truck. All lanes were blocked for about an hour.

Although no other cars were involved, the slowdown caused several other collisions on Cotati grade, said CHP Officer Jonathan Sloat. No injuries were reported. Slurry sealant is a tar-like substance used to repair asphalt roadways.
