Rowdy Fans Keep Cops Busy at 49ers Game

San Francisco police made dozens of arrests and ejected nearly 100 people at Saturday's National Football League game between the 49ers and the Green Bay Packers.

San Francisco police were busy as the San Francisco 49ers were toppling the Green Bay Packers in a National Football League Divisional playoff game Saturday night at Candlestick Park, police said.

While the 49ers were working towards a 45-31 victory over the Packers, police ejected 92 spectators, Sgt. Michael Andraychak said.

Another 25 at the game were arrested for public intoxication, Andraychak said. Two additional arrests were made for an auto burglary, he said.

Following the game, two people were arrested for driving under the influence, Andraychak said.

With the win, the 49ers advanced to its second consecutive NFC Championship Game, Jan. 20 at 12:30 p.m. The 49ers will either host its NFC West rival Seattle Seahawks, or travel to Atlanta to take on the NFC South and top-seeded Falcons.

Leave it up to Patch take a great area professional sports story and add a story headlining it negatively. There would already be a brand new state of the art stadium in SF that wouldn't draw this crowd if it wasn't for newsom.

Hmmm, here's the math on the story... 121 incidents with 69,732 in attendance means that 98.83% of spectators were law abiding citizens. BUT.... let's choose to focus on the extreme minority of idiots, right? I hate how the press LOVES to spread negativity. How many die-hard Niner fans enjoyed a neighborhood BBQ with friends and family? How much revenue did the game bring into our local communities? I watched at home, but assume the bars and restaurants showing the game were packed with fans. Why choose to run this article?

Yea, I think the Patch is beginning to be desperate for traffic with a headline like this with the big SF logo and all. Sorry I included myself in the " hits" traffic. Time to go and read the real sport sections and all. I do enjoy Carlos from Patch though, maybe he could be polished into a regular sports columist w/out all the off subject hatin.
