Sonoma County Holiday Weekend: 39 DUI-Related Arrests

Announcement from the Petaluma Police Department:

The Independence Day Weekend anti-DUI crackdown in Sonoma County reports 39 DUI arrests from local routine traffic enforcement and special "Avoid the 13"  deployments in Sonoma County.

From 12:01 a.m. Thursday, July 3, through midnight Sunday, July 6, officers representing 13 county law enforcement agencies arrested 39 individuals for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

There were no DUI deaths over the weekend, but there were four DUI-related collisions in the county.

Law enforcement officials will be conducting its next major Avoid DUI campaign throughout the county and region during the 18-Day Summer Campaign in August ending Labor Day weekend.

Police, Sheriff's deputies and the CHP encourage all motorists to watch and report impaired drivers each and every trip around town or during summer vacations: Report Drunk Drivers – Call 9-1-1! anytime motorists encounter that dangerous driver.

Funding for this program was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
