Suspected DUI Driver Arrested After Downtown Crash

Petaluma Police apprehend 21-year-old after he nearly hits customers entering a club.

A man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence after crashing his car in downtown Petaluma on Christmas Eve, police said.

Boris Rodriguez, 21, of Petaluma, was allegedly speeding when he lost control of his car and crashed into a parked vehicle in front of Gale's Central Club, at 106 Petaluma Blvd. North, around 11:45 p.m. Monday, police said.

Rodriguez' car came to rest against the building, narrowly missing a number of customers who were standing just outside the business, according to police.

One customer was grazed but did not need medical attention, police said.

Rodriguez was arrested at the scene on suspicion of driving under the influence, hit-and-run, possession of a controlled substance and violation of probation for a prior DUI offense, police said.

He was booked into Sonoma County Jail.
