Transient Found With Throwing Star, Blade Ring and Three Pounds of Pot

Apprehended Thursday night on Weller Street

Police discovered a veritable treasure trove of weapons on a homeless man Thursday night, including a throwing star, a ring with an attached blade on it and a slinging device.

Officers initially stopped 39-year-old Jerry William Ruch, on Weller Street near East Washington Street shortly before 8:30pm and ran a search on his name. The search revealed that Ruch, who has no known address, had a no-bail warrant from Modoc County.

Ruch was arrested for the warrant and a search conducted, during which officers discovered the weapons as well as syringes and three pounds of marijuana. Ruch was booked at Sonoma County Jail.
