Two DUI Checkpoints Planned Friday Evening

Weather permitting, Petaluma police will set up two checkpoints in town from 7pm to 3am aimed at catching drunk drivers

 

It’s the holidays, which means parties and other holiday gatherings where booze is flowing.

To encourage locals to drive responsibly, the Sonoma County DUI Task Force will set up two checkpoints Friday between 7pm and 3am.

The locations are confidential.

Since the start of the task force’s winter holiday campaign last Friday, 43 people around Sonoma County have been arrested for driving under the influence and one DUI-related collision.

The goal of the special enforcement is to remove dangerous drivers off the roads and reduce alcohol-related fatal and injury collisions. The checkpoints will be called if in case of a serious storm.
