Two DUI Checkpoints Planned Saturday Night in Petaluma

The Petaluma Police Department will be conducting two DUI and driver’s license checkpoints on Saturday night -- April 12 -- from 5 p.m. to 3 a.m. Sunday, to detect and deter impaired driving and suspended/unlicensed drivers.

The locations of the checkpoints will not be disclosed to the public.

These operations are to raise the awareness of the dangers of impaired driving by educating motorists, arresting impaired and suspended/unlicensed drivers.

And before you begin wondering if this is really necessary, here are two Petaluma stories from the past week:

Funding for these operations has been provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
