Woman Allegedly Tries to Hit Ex-Boyfriend With Car & Narrowly Misses Child

A woman tried to mow down her ex-boyfriend with her car Sunday afternoon because she thought he dated one of their mutual friends, Petaluma Police say.

Witnesses told police that Marin County resident Dinora Alvarado, 39, swerved off Stuart Drive around 2 p.m. Sunday, narrowly missing her ex-boyfriend and a young child standing in a driveway, according to a press release.

"Alvarado’s vehicle then collided with the ex-boyfriend's vehicle parked in the driveway of his residence," the press release states. "After striking the vehicle, Alvarado continued to accelerate the engine of her vehicle, causing a large amount of smoke to emit from the spinning tires. Alvarado then exited the vehicle and began to assault the ex-boyfriend and throw items at him before he was able to retreat to the safety of his residence."

The woman tried to run, but was caught by police nearby and arrested. Police say she admitted she was trying to run down and kill her ex because she thought the man had dated a mutual friend of theirs, according to police.

The man and the young child were not injured.

Alvarado is currently on probation for domestic violence charges in Marin County, where the ex-boyfriend in Sunday's incident was the victim, police say. She was booked into Sonoma County Jail and her bail was set at $30,000, the press release states.
