Woman Kicked From Behind and Robbed in Petaluma

The robbery was reported Sunday night.

Petaluma Police say a woman was kicked by a stranger and then purse-snatched while walking in downtown Petaluma Sunday night.

The robbery happened around 9:15 p.m. behind the Petaluma Museum, on B and 4th streets.

The victim told police she was walking when she was kicked from behind by a man she described as Hispanic, about 30 years old, standing 5-foot-4-inches, and wearing gray sweat pants with blue bands around both legs. He was last seen running toward Petaluma Boulevard North, police say.

The woman was not injured, but the robber made off with her purse–which also contained her cellphone, keys and cash.

"While robberies are not common in Downtown Petaluma, there has been an increase in property crimes during this holiday season," Police said in a press release. "Residents should be aware of their surroundings while walking at night and use well-lit areas."

Petaluma Police ask anyone with information on this case to call 707-778-4372.
