Woman Leaves Child in Car After Stealing Items at Kohl's

Charged with child endangerment and burglary

A Rohnert Park woman was arrested Thursday night after she stole merchandise from while leaving her 4-year-old son in the car, according to Petaluma Police.

After committing the alleged burglary, Connie Holmes, 30, was chased by a security officer, but managed to get in her car and flee. However, 15 minutes later, the vehicle was found in the back parking lot without the driver, but with her child still inside.

The fire department was called to the scene to open the car, while officers continued to search the area. Holmes was eventually located two hours later as she was being picked up by a friend.

Her son was taken to the police department and later released to a grandparent. 

Holmes was charged with burglary and child endangerment and her bail set at $25,000.
