Woman Tries to Carjack 2 Drivers in Raley's Parking Lot

Was allegedly under the influence as she stuck a hand under her shirt to pretend she had a gun, police say.

A Petaluma woman was arrested Saturday after allegedly trying to carjack two women in a supermarket parking lot by pretending to have a gun.

Police say Ashley Elizabeth Barnes, 26, approached a woman in the parking lot of a Raleys Supermarket at 157 N. McDowell Blvd., placed her hand under her shirt and, pretending she had a handgun, ordered the victim to turn over her car keys.

The woman refused and fled. Barnes then allegedly tried the same thing with another woman who had just parked her car. That woman also refused, fled the area and notified the police, Frye said.
