Just So We're Clear

I know a way to read tarot cards.  Have been for over 20 years.  I think they're neat.  There is a wonderful air of mystery about them and, to me, convincing evidence that they contain Western cultural archetypes.  I don't think I'm psychic and this blog won't be about magic; in fact, I have little patience for magical thinking.  I read mostly through intuition; I never claim mystical knowledge.

But there's an undeniable pull toward the imagery and subconscious connection the cards have with how people see themselves.  Why not extend this type of analysis to how we can see our own political situation?  Given the corporate media and increasingly compromised freedom of expression, somehow I don't think this admittedly quirky approach undermines genuine political analysis.  Nor do I see it as a substitute for real political organizing.

As with politics, there are many ways to interpret the cards.  I rely heavily on the Qabalah but encourage as many comparative concepts as I can.    I claim no monopoly of symbolic interpretation.  Not true for my politics, for which I don't need the cards.

They are, though, quite fun to explore.  Stay tuned.
