Budget Presentation on the Agenda for City Council Meeting, May 21

Petaluma's City Council will take up next year's budget, living wage rate and weed abatement in Monday's regular meeting.

Budget issues should take center stage at tonight's regular meeting of the at council chambers. After an early-start 5:30 p.m. closed session, to conference on labor negotiations, the public session will begin at 7 p.m.

The New Business parat of the agenda (attached to this article) includes the presentation of the City of Petaluma's preliminary budget for FY 2012-2013, which they hope to balance through anticipated revenues of $32,478,000 and 5 percent across-the-board spending cuts.

Also on the docket is a resolution to maintain the city's Living Wage Rate of $12.65/hour will also be taken up, and amending the pay rates for part time employees.

Following roll-call and other standard business, the Public Comment period on non-agenda items is expected to begin by 7:15.

The Consent Calendar will take up an ordinance approving the grant of City-owned right of way to Caltrans for the construction of the Old Redwood Highway Interchange Improvement Project ; a resolution approving a five year professional services agreement with Mead & Hunt, as Airport Consultant; and a resolution authorizing the purchase of a demonstration Emergency Type I Ambulance in the amount of $169,348.

Following New Business, there will be a public hearing on a resolution ordering the abatement of weeds growing upon public and private property in city limits,  and ordering the Fire Department to remove the weeks by contract if property owners fail to do so.
