The Sonoma County Board of Supervisors will take public comment at
6 p.m. today on mitigation measures to be considered when negotiating an
intergovernmental agreement with the Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria
regarding a proposed casino and hotel the tribe plans to build near Rohnert
Park.
The tribe wants to build a Las Vegas-style casino with 3,000 slot machines. But many critics are worried about the project's impact on groundwater supplies and traffic. Estimates predict some 15,000 vehicle trips a day to and from the site.
Then there's concern over the casino's impact on police and fire services as well as gambling addiction.
The public hearing is in the board's chambers, Sonoma County
Administration Building, 575 Administration Drive, Santa Rosa.
