Overturned Big-Rig Closes Lakeville Highway Wednesday Morning

An SUV and a big-rig got tangled up in an accident and traffic on the highway got snarled as a result.

Lakeville Highway was choked down to one lane this morning after an SUV and a big-rig collided causing the big-rig to overturn and block the southbound lane according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash was reported around 6:45 a.m. on southbound Lakeville Highway, near Cougar Mountain Drive, just north of state Highway 37, Officer Scott Cakebread said.

The CHP did not issue a Sig-alert, but advised drivers to avoid the area and instead use U.S. Highway 101 between the Petaluma and Novato areas, Cakebread said.

As of 9:10 a.m., the CHP was directing cars around the crashed  big-rig using one-way traffic control, he said.

At 12:30 p.m. a CHP officer said the road has been reopened.
