Renée Seeking Reelection in November

Petaluma Vice Mayor says she supports "living wage growth," improving transportation infrastructure and protecting city's quality of life.

Petaluma Vice Mayor Tiffany Renée has announced her plan to run for reelection in November, vowing to continue bringing in money for transportation projects, defending homeowners facing foreclosure and urging more clean energy jobs.

Renée, first elected in 2008, will square off against current Councilman Gabe Kearney and Planning Commissioner Alicia Kae Herries. Councilman Mike Healy, whose term also ends in December, has not yet announced his plans, although is widely believed to be running.

After an unsuccessful bid to replace Lynn Woolsey in Congress, Renée says she is again focused on pushing for essential services for Petaluma residents who have been impacted by budget cuts over the past four years.

“I have worked diligently on council and several local and regional boards to lessen the impacts of budget cuts to our local services, while seeking solutions to address our deferred maintenance issues,” Renée said in a statement issued Monday morning.

“I am encouraged to seek a second term at a time when Petaluma and the region need strong representation on these vital issues.”

During her time on the council, Renée was appointed to the board of directors of the powerful Sonoma County Transportation Authority, which steers state money into local transportation projects and the Regional Climate Protection Agency where she has been an advocate of the county’s efforts to create its own power utility.

Renée, who owns a web and graphic branding company, has also become a visible supporter of Occupy Petaluma, showing up at events and often recounting her own story of living in a home that was foreclosed.

Candidates have until August 10 to file official paperwork with the city.
