Sound Off: How Would You Close the $44 Million Budget Deficit?

Here's your chance to play lawmaker for a day

Sonoma County is facing a $44 million budget deficit that will likely result in the elimination of more than 200 positions and some 60 jobs. These are unprecedented times we are living  in and while we don't envy local lawmakers who have some very tough decisions ahead of them, we wanted to ask you, the reader, about how you would go about trimming spending.

  • What would you do to close the budget deficit?
  • What departments do you feel should be cut the most? (Be sure to tell us why)
  • What department(s) should not be cut at all?
