Free Training in Responsible Beverage Service for Liquor Store Owners

The Petaluma Police Department is holding a free training in responsible beverage service for owners and managers of liquor stores and other establishments were alcohol can be purchased but not consumed.

The training is endorsed by the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control and considered the same as their Licensee Education on Alcohol and Drugs (LEAD) training. It is required for every licensee, manager and employee under section 10.68.050 of the Petaluma Municipal Code and includes:

  • Clarifying what constitutes “Acceptable” identification (ID) and how to verify it for your protection
  • Techniques for the early identification and mitigation of problems
  • Understanding your criminal, civil and ABC liability
  • An update on California alcohol laws

These classes are endorsed by ABC, and go beyond what has historically been presented in RBS LEADS training.  Participants who complete the training will receive a certificate of completion and satisfy all requirements imposed by ABC and local jurisdictions requiring attendance at RBS training.
