Petaluma Athlete Has Chance to Qualify for Olympic Trials

Riley Scott has been swimming since she was 6 months old. Now she is competing the best athletes in the country for a chance to go to the London Olympics.

Fourteen year-old swim champion Riley Scott, a freshman at Petaluma High School, has been long been racking up first place finishes.

Now, she’s aiming to qualify for the U.S. Olympic Trials, that will be held in Omaha, Neb. this June. Athletes who compete in the trials have a chance to represent the U.S. at the London Olympics that begin July 27.

last April, after she had just captured two first-place finishes in a regional competition and then made the finals at the Junior Nationals Championships in Orlando, Florida.

She hasn’t looked back, winning at both regional and state competitions, especially in the breast stroke.

According to the Press Democrat, Riley is spending spring break at the National Swimming Association’s Junior Championships in Orlando. Go Riley!
