SVHS Debate Team Going to Nationals

More than 80 students participate in school's debate program

The St. Vincent High School debate team cleaned up at last weekend’s competition at California State University at Fullerton, picking up First and Second places.

Sydney Griggs, Josh Martin, David Kilpatrick and Ricky Young advanced to the Tournament of Champions and will go on to compete at the national debating championship in May, the first time in SVHS history that two teams have gotten that far.

Other standout debaters include Fiona Duffy and Luz Lopez, who reached the OctoRound. Next up, the team heads to the University of Michigan Invitational in early November. More than 80 students participate in St. Vincent High School's debate program.
