Hi everyone, this went out as a breaking news alert, on the North Bay sites. We meant to send it out as a breaking news alert on Petaluma Patch, however, it went out as a breaking news alert for all of the site. We acknowledge the error. Please continue logging on to the sites for the most up-to-the minute coverage on the Little League World Series. The entire West Coast is behind Petaluma National!

When I was chatting with some people in Sonoma yesterday, they were really excited about this. So, I'm fine with it. I appreciate that some might not be. But isn't it fun to have something positive to be excited about with everything else going on in the world? Between this and America's Cup in the Bay, I'm pretty much over the moon myself. That and the way Sonoma beat Napa in cricket lately (sorry Napa!) http://patch.com/A-wVXY

This is The Patch, man which covers small towns such as Petaluma. This is breaking news for small town community and moreover, and more importantly, it's positive news. I am so tired of all you negative Nelly's. I guess you all would prefer to hear about the old dude who chased down the cyclist on the golf course. This "breaking news" made me smile. When was the last time a news story had that effect on you?

On Napa Patch we have a culture of using actual names in the comments thread. My apologies to Napa readers that I am not able to moderate contributions from other Patch sites.

Go Petaluma, go west

As of today, Petaluma is one of the top three Little League Teams in the United States - and one of the top 5 in the WORLD. That is beyond "breaking news" - that is fantastic, and the team deserves all the coverage Patch wants to give them. People all over the west coast are talking about a team of 12 and 13 year olds that play baseball in our backyard. What could be more awesome? I wish all the breaking news stories were about the great accomplishments of our citizens- rather than stories about the criminals, drink drivers and other losers that are usually listed as "breaking news".
