Petaluma Kitchen aiming for 450 turkeys to feed the needy this Thanksgiving

I know Halloween is barely over, but it's November, which means that in just three weeks, Petaluma families will be sitting down to Thanksgiving dinner, hearing your uncle's corny jokes and oohing over mom's secret stuffing recipe.

For the less fortunate, there's Petaluma Kitchen, which each year organizes a stellar turkey dinner complete with the bird, pecan and pumkin pie and all the fixings.

COTS, which runs Petaluma Kitchen, also gives away hundreds of turkeys to local families and needs the public's help in collecting 450 turkeys.

It's simple: Bring a frozen turkey, 20 lbs. or less, to the Mary Isaak Center, 900 Hopper St., any day from 7am – 2 pm by Nov. 18.  For food safety purposes, do not thaw or cook the turkey. COTS is asking for turkey donations because grocers limit the number of turkeys each customer can purchase, although monetary donations for other food items are always appreciated.
