Highway 101 Tree Removal, Waste Recycling and More

A look at the week ahead in Petaluma.

Notice something missing from Petaluma lately? If you said trees, you'd be spot on. The Petaluma City Council meets Monday night, and will discuss the hundreds of trees that have been lost to the Highway 101 expansion through town. The council will discuss sending a letter to the county demanding an exact count of the trees lost and details on its plan to replace them.

The council meets at 7 p.m. Monday at 11 English St. The full agenda is here.

If you're looking for something educational to do with your kids, the Petaluma Historical Library and Museum is open starting on Wednesday. The museum features exhibits on local history and culture, from Coastal Miwok items to a tribute to General Vallejo and his family.

Admission is free, and it's open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday, and noon to 3 p.m. on Sunday.

A facility to recycle construction debris and other materials could be coming to the county landfill in Petaluma, and the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors will take up the topic Tuesday morning. The supervisors meet at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at 575 Administration Drive, Room 102A in Santa Rosa.

Petaluma-based comedian Christopher Linnell, author of the book "Pretending How to Make a Living," will speak at the Healdsburg  Library at 7 p.m. Wednesday. 139 Piper St.
