Volunteer Fire Dept Holding Blood Drive Tuesday in Petaluma

The San Antonio Volunteer Fire Department will hold a blood drive Tuesday at the Petaluma Elks Lodge.

A Sonoma County volunteer fire department will hope residents will voluntarily draw blood Tuesday during a "Bucket Brigade Blood Drive."

The event will be held from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Petaluma Elks Lodge, 2105 South McDowell Blvd. It's part of an annual competition to recruit blood donors, and anyone who gives blood will receive a free T-shirt.

Tuesday's event is hosted by the San Antonio Volunteer Fire Co.., which was formed in 1966 and responded to 15 calls last month.

Its 25 members respond to incidents south of the Petaluma city limits, north of the Marin County line, west of the Petaluma river and east of D Street and its extension, according to the department's website.

The San Antonio Volunteer Fire Department often responds to traffic accidents on Highway 101 and grass fires in the summer, its website says.
