In The Black and White, Slack Collective Kickstarts arts and culture center

How should this space be utilized for the community. What is the ideal community center for you?

We are “Kickstarting” an arts and culture community center. We are calling it The Black and White. What exactly is “Kickstarting”, you may ask? It is a crowdsourcing fundraising platform. Simply put, it is a website where people start or “Kickstart” ideas, by using the power of video marketing to generate both funds and public awareness in order to transform imagined dreams into existing realities.

We have the space and the the idea, but now we need an immidiate, longterm, collective, economic, and emotional investment from our community: http://kck.st/UwaQJa.The Black & White is a room with old lights, peeling paint, and a chill factor as cold as ice. This fundraiser will enable us to purchase necessities for a comfortable space that our community will enjoy and take seriously. Our team focuses on alternative culture, youth and underground art. A hard sell in a place like Napa, California. A warm pleasing environment is crucial for a project like this. Our production team is small, and local publications are few, therefore a percentage of the funds will be used for community outreach.

We urge you to keep us in the loop with your thoughts and your ideas about how this space should be utilized for the community.

What is the ideal community center for you?

With enthusiasm and hope,

The Black and White Community Team

It's at Slack Collective Art Studios and Gallery, Pearl and West streets downtown - right across West from the skate park. Slack has a listing in our directory; the Black and White is its gallery/performance space.

I think Xulio is spending so much time there he forgot to mention where it is! He has done a fantastic job turning the monthly open mic into a do-not-miss event.
