Indian film director Pradeep Indulkar will present his new film "High Power" at Lydia's Sunflower Center in Petaluma, 7:00 PM on Sunday, March 16th.

"High Power" lets the people who live around Tarapur Atomic Power Station in Maharashtra tell the story of India’s oldest and largest nuclear power station. It has a capacity of 1400 MW units of power, yet even after 45 years of operation, the town of Tarapur that gave the power plant its name goes without power for 6 to 8 hours every day. Meanwhile residents of the town complain of higher incidence of cancer and other diseases because of radiation from the plant.

"High Power" won Yellow Oscar in the short film category at the Rio de Janeiro Uranium Film Festival in May 2013. The film was finally granted Censor Board certification after a one year battle.

Color, Marathi w/english subtitles (27mins)

The director will be present to answer questions about his film after the screening. Come early to join FukushimaResponse & Pradeep Indulkar for dinner at 6:00 PM - Lydia's Sunflower Cafe, 1435 N. McDowell Blvd., Petaluma, CA.
