Petaluma PD Seeks Suspect in Auto & Identity Theft

The Petaluma Police Department is  attempting to identify a man suspected of vehicle theft and identity theft after allegedly renting and not returning equipment leased under false identification.

A man on Saturday -- May 3 -- reportedly rented a flatbed trailer and a generator from Cal West Rentals in Petaluma, but after the items were not returned, Cal West Rentals determined that the suspect had used someone else's identity to rent the equipment.

The investigating officer contacted the identity theft victim, who said he received calls from Hertz Rentals in Oakland and southern California, asking him about other rented equipment.
